内容摘要:This paper develops a sequential search model in which a large number of firms sell through both a retail platform and an open market. The retailer operates to maximize commission revenue and provides product recommendations based on imperfect information on consumer types. A large number of consumers are multi-homing and can search in both channels to learn prices and fits (as well as the accuracy of the retailer's product recommendation). The model endogenizes consumers' multi-homing sequential search strategies, firm pricing, and the retailer's commission fee. We extend this framework to analyze interactions between a retailer owner and a manager.
